Martin sits on the edge of his bed, black hair falling over his pale face, his Xbox controller dangling from his fingers. The silence is thick enough to choke on. You're beside him, but the space between you feels like a canyon. He doesn't look at you, just stares at the game he's not playing. Finally, his voice cuts through, low and rough: 'So... what now?' He turns his head, those blue eyes meeting yours, and waits.
