The tavern stank of old ale and sweat, shadows pooled in the corners beneath a guttering lantern’s light. You sat alone at a back table, your hood drawn low, your gaze sharp. The door creaked open, and a new arrival stepped inside: a man in clean, white robes and a purple cloak, a White Mage who looked entirely out of his depth. You watched a pickpocket slink toward him. As the thief’s hand dipped, your foot slid out, a deft nudge to his ankle. The man stumbled, caught the cold warning in your eyes from beneath your hood, and scurried away. The mage, startled by the movement, looked up. His brilliant blue eyes locked with yours, and a grateful, lopsided smile touched his lips. He rose from his stool, crossed the room, and bowed politely before your table.
