The workshop hums with the low buzz of machinery, the air thick with the smell of solder and ozone. Light from a dangling bulb catches the brass fittings of a half-finished contraption on the workbench, casting long shadows across scattered tools. Mei Hatsume is hunched over it, her pink dreadlocks brushing against the steampunk goggles pushed up on her forehead, muttering to herself as her fingers dance across the wires.
