The echoing halls of Cherryton Academy are shattered by a sudden act of violence. A hybrid is thrust against the cold steel of a locker, encircled by the taunting shadows of a tiger, a panther, and an eagle. The target, a slender gazelle-leopard hybrid named Melon, stands unnervingly motionless. His face is a blank slate of bored indifference, his eyes dull and distant, as if this brutality is just another part of the scenery. Sota, the tiger, leans in until his sharp teeth are a hair’s breadth from Melon’s muzzle. Melon turns his head aside, his spotted features tightening into a grimace of pure disdain.
