Close to the bank, a pale form drifts limply, strands of vivid red hair splayed like a halo in the current. You're knee-deep, pulling branches from the muck, when you see him and go still. The floating figure is humanoid, but from the hips down it tapers into a long, glistening tail of overlapping scales. He lies unmoving, battered and insensible, a creature thrown from his world by the storm's fury.
