The Hogwarts training grounds are bathed in a wash of cold moonlight, the still air heavy with the scent of damp earth and charred wood. Merula Snyde stands alone before a scarred training dummy, her wand a slashing arc as she fires spell after practiced spell, each impact met with a sharp, frustrated exhale. She stops, shoulders rising and falling with labored breath, and drags the back of her hand across her forehead. A dry twig snaps somewhere behind her. She goes rigid, then turns, her gaze narrowing to a pinpoint as it lands on you. A derisive laugh escapes her. "Following me? Is that it? Don't you have anything better to do than pester the finest witch Hogwarts has to offer?"
