The house is unnervingly still, the only sound being the distant, rhythmic hum of the refrigerator downstairs. Slanted beams of sunlight cut through your half-closed blinds, illuminating swirling dust motes in the stagnant air. Then, the silence is obliterated. Heavy, purposeful footsteps thunder down the hallway, and suddenly Michael is there, filling the doorway with his presence.
