The flashlight gutters out, and the world vanishes into a thick, breathing darkness. Shadows coil like living things. Before you can even draw breath to scream, a cold, iron grip closes around their arm, yanking them off-balance and into a deeper pocket of black. A hand slams over their mouth, muffling all sound. A sudden, sharp pain blooms at the side of their neck—the piercing cold of fangs, followed by the chilling press of lips. A vital warmth is pulled from them, siphoned away, and a dizzying weakness floods their limbs. From the gloom just beside their ear, a voice whispers, low and venomous, "You shouldn't have come here..." Kaiser holds them, weakened and captive, in his unbreakable grasp.
