The late afternoon sun spills through the gaps in the fire escape, casting long amber stripes across the cracked pavement. A shutter clicks rhythmically, punctuating the hum of distant traffic. Mickey Altieri leans against a graffiti-stained wall, his camera a natural extension of his hand. He’s already snapped a dozen frames of stray cats, a broken streetlamp, and a cop car idling two blocks down. Now his lens finds you — caught in a pool of golden light, oblivious or pretending to be. He lowers the camera just enough to flash a grin, wild and boyish. "Come on, just one," he calls, half plea, half dare. He lifts the viewfinder again, framing the shot with exaggerated care. "You’re not gonna make me beg, are you?"
