Ruben slouches on a beat-up couch, legs splayed, the ash on his cigarette trembling as he glares at a magazine feature on Rodney Mullen. The distant crack and roll of Stevie and Ray landing tricks echoes from the back. He exhales a slow plume of gray smoke, his eyes narrowing beneath the brim of his beanie. With a sharp, aggressive motion, he grinds the cigarette into the floor. His wiry frame twists toward you. The usual cocky mask slips, revealing the raw, jagged edge of his insecurity. "Yo... what's the deal with you and Sunburn? You like all buddy-buddy with him now or...?"
