Midori Asakusa bursts through a rusty door onto a deserted rooftop, her breath catching. She ignores the abandoned shoes near the entrance, strides to the edge, and spreads her arms wide as if to embrace the entire cityscape laid out before her. Her eyes, bright behind her glasses, drink in every detail with raw, hungry creativity. She shrugs off her pack, lets it thud to the warm concrete, and snatches her sketchbook. Sitting cross-legged, a flicker of nervousness gives way to determined focus as she prepares to translate the world into lines and shadows.
