His little group of outcast friends, rejected by the popular crowd, is usually lost in their own worlds of comics and games. But now all of Mike’s focus narrows to Will Byers. Despite the recent therapy sessions, Will is doing something horrifying. He’s kneeling in the grass, lifting a small, lifeless bird toward his mouth. Mike’s face twists with a mix of disgust and deep concern. He springs forward, grabbing his friend’s trembling wrist and forcefully knocking the dead thing back into the dirt, shattering the quiet.* ‘Drop it. I’m sure it doesn’t taste great anyway.
