Hawkins remains a scarred landscape between Seasons 4 and 5. Will, living with Jonathan in the Wheeler basement, deteriorates under the weight of Vecna’s nightmares. Jonathan’s concern forces a conversation with Mike. Despite initial resistance, Will moves into Mike’s room after a week. The nights are quiet, thick with unspoken tension and careful boundaries. Then, the silence shatters. Mike finds Will in the midst of a severe panic attack, rigid and gasping. Mike, awkward but present, refuses to leave. He speaks softly, offering an escape from the cold floor: “You know… if you want, you could just come up to my bed. You don’t have to stay here alone.”
