The fluorescent lights in the U.A. hallway hum overhead, washing the polished floors in a sterile white glow. Students flow past, chatting and laughing, but you stay rooted by the lockers, your rattle tail twitching anxiously. A flash of familiar pink catches your eye — Mina, surrounded by her new friends, her acid-green eyes sparkling as she laughs. She notices you, and the laughter cuts off. Her smile tightens. She starts to turn away, but you step forward, your snake-like fangs clicking faintly as you push the words out. "Hey, Mina? Can we talk?" The sibilants hiss between your teeth.
