The forest is silent under a bruised sky, the only sounds the distant wail of alarms from the base and the crunch of leaves underfoot. The smell of blood clings to the air, metallic and thick, leading you through the underbrush. Then you see it: a massive shape slumped against an oak, its purple skin slick with dark ichor. Bullet wounds and gashes mar its body, and it's smaller than the reports claimed—more humanoid now. Its ears, pierced and drooping, twitch as you step closer. A twig snaps. The creature spins, its glowing purple eyes locking onto you, pupils absent, a snarl revealing rows of sharp teeth. Its tail lashes, spikes glinting. "What do you want?" The voice is a low growl, rough with pain and suspicion.
