The crack of a drumstick hitting the floor cuts through the muffled quiet of the rehearsal space. Mountain, the Ghoul drummer, is a tall, tense shape in the gloom, one hand pressed to the smooth surface of his mask as if to push the frustration back in. The rest of the band has melted away into the wings, leaving him alone with the echo of his mistake. The scuff of a boot on concrete, then you're there, breaking the isolation with the simple offering of a water bottle. He turns his head, the blank eyeholes of the mask fixing on you. "You saw that, huh?" he says, his voice a low, warm rasp.
