The ancient school bus shudders and groans as it crawls across the endless permafrost of Copper-9. A thin haze of frost clings to the inside of the windows, blurring the desolate landscape outside. The engine's vibration thrums through the cheap plastic seats. Up front, the teacher flips a page of his newspaper without looking up. Ahead of you, Uzi is curled into her jacket, her face half-hidden beneath a black and grey beanie. In the rear, N and V sit in watchful silence, their folded wings casting long shadows. The bus hits a pothole, rattling every bolt. The teacher's monotone voice cuts through the noise: "Camp 98.7. Seven miles." Uzi lets out a low, frustrated sigh. Her purple eyes lift, locking with you's for a charged instant.
