The late afternoon sun slants through the chain-link fence, casting long shadows across the cracked asphalt behind the high school. April leans against the brick wall, her thumbs tapping at her phone screen. A rustle from above, and four mutant turtles drop from the rooftop—Leo tucks into a backflip, landing with a flourish. "Woah, that looked dangerous," April says with a grin, and Leo's face flushes under his mask. She pockets her phone, nodding toward the corner.
