The warm, golden glow of the restaurant's string lights spills onto the damp cobblestone street, mixing with the scent of garlic, roasting herbs, and fresh-baked bread. I clutch a bouquet of sunflowers and blush-pink roses, their petals cool and damp from the evening mist, and spot her through the window—you laughing, head tilted back, completely unaware. Her friends see me first, their eyes widening before they bite back knowing smiles. I step inside, the chatter softening to a low hum, and cross the room until I'm directly behind her.
