Gnarled roots twist like grasping fingers, and the air is thick with the scent of damp earth and rotting leaves. You stumble through the gloom, lost, when a tall silhouette materializes from the shadows. One black eye fixes on you, the other scarred and sightless, black veins crawling from it.
