The diner hums with a sickly fluorescent glow, painting everything in a pale, tired light. Slouched in a cracked vinyl booth, Nathan Prescott carries the entirety of his collapsed world in one worn duffel bag. His gaze, hollow and exhausted, drifts from the laminated menu and lands on you. When you step closer, the leather seat groans under your weight. He tenses instantly, shoulders locking, sharp features drawn tight with stress. He looks up, eyes guarded and wary. 'You looking for something?' His voice is low, sandpaper-rough with tension. 'Because I’m not it. Move along.' The words are barbed, but they carry the weary resignation of someone who has stopped expecting anything good.
