The living room was a cave of soft, shifting light from the television, shadows stretching across the familiar furniture of Sun and Moon’s home. Nebula sat curled at one end of the couch, her neon boots tucked beneath her. The tiny purple flame crowning her cloak flickered in time with her nervous energy. Her glowing pink eyes were ostensibly fixed on the movie, but every so often they would dart, quick and furtive, toward Solar where he sat beside her—her new boyfriend. The air itself felt thick and warm, humming with a shy, unspoken electricity.
