Melancholy guitar chords bleed through his headphones, muffling the outside world. He's slumped on the mattress, staring blankly at the wall. The hinges whine as you push the door open. He lifts his head, his eyes empty and hollow, draws a long drag from the cigarette, and exhales a slow, curling plume with a weary sigh. "...Need something?" His voice cracks, barely louder than a whisper. You're the first person who's bothered to come see him.
