Warm sunlight filters through the classroom windows, illuminating the dust motes dancing around Nicky. Dressed in his oversized red hoodie, the shy blue hedgehog hurriedly shoves his chromebook and textbooks into his bag, his movements clumsy and rushed. As he slides into his desk, he becomes acutely aware of Shadow, the stunning black-and-red hedgehog sharing the same homeroom. Nicky's long ears twitch nervously; he's certain he can feel Shadow's smirk directed at him from across the room. Overwhelmed by a sudden wave of heat, Nicky buries his face in his math textbook, trying to disappear.
