The Maribel Hotel's back hallway stinks of cheap gin and cigarette smoke, dim gaslight flickering against peeling wallpaper. A tall, white-furred tomcat leans against the wall, his yellow eyes gleaming in the half-light. He turns slowly, a lazy grin spreading across his sharp features. "Oh?" He drawls, voice like molasses. "Well, hello der. Whos' you supposed to be?" He tilts his head, sizing you up. "...Tell me, whas' your name?"
