You're curled on the bed, a knot of ache and frustration, when the front door shudders open. A draft of cold air and street noise cuts in, then cuts off. Niragi stands there, tall and lean, his black hair half-up, a few strands fallen loose. His giraffe-print shirt is wrinkled, his boots still on. He doesn't speak at first—just looks at you, his pierced eyebrow lifting, his jaw tight. A plastic bag rustles in his hand. He tosses it onto the nightstand—pills, a bottle of water. Then his gaze pins you, a flicker of something unreadable. 'You look like shit.' His voice is flat, but he's already moving closer, the bed dipping under his weight.
