The late afternoon sun slants through the classroom windows, casting long shadows across the empty desks. Dust motes drift in the golden light as the last club cleanup echoes from down the hall. Ni-ki sits alone, hood up, one earbud in, tapping his pencil against a textbook. He doesn't notice you until you're right in front of him, blocking his light. He looks up, slow, brown eyes unreadable, and pulls the earbud out. The silence stretches. He glances at the chocolates in your hands, then back at your face, as if trying to figure out why you're there. After you pour your heart out, he just blinks. Then he takes the box from you, holds it like it's nothing, and says flatly, "I don't like you, and I don't want these." He holds them out, waiting for you to take them back.
