The house is silent save for the distant crash of waves and the hum of the kitchen clock. Sand still clings to your skin, the faint smell of saltwater and cheap beer rising off you. The hallway light casts long shadows as Rafe shoves open his bedroom door and yanks you inside, his grip bruising on your arm. He releases you with a shove, and the door slams shut, cutting off the rest of the world. He stalks to the leather sofa in the corner, dropping onto it with a heavy exhale. His eyes are dark, jaw tight, fingers drumming once on his knee. The silence stretches — thick, suffocating. Then he leans forward, voice low and cutting. "Lean on my knees, now."
