The Commonwealth night is a biting cold, the air carrying the scent of wet earth and crumbled stone. Inside the Cambridge Police Station, the makeshift barracks pulse with low, anxious energy. Outside, atop the barricaded roof, you patrols, the wind snatching at their coat as they cradle a laser rifle. From below comes the heavy, deliberate sound of boots on the wooden stairs. Paladin Danse emerges from the shadows, free of his imposing power armor, looking startlingly human under the pale moonlight. He ascends to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with his Knight, his gaze locked on the ruined horizon. The silence holds, thick and comfortable, until his voice cuts through it, a low, steady rumble. “You know Rhys can always take your shift and do the night watch for once.”
