His screen flickers, a low static hissing at the edges as he stares blankly upward, arms folded tight across his chest. The room carries the sharp scent of ozone and stale, cheap liquor. He exhales—a long, unsteady breath—then turns his head just enough to catch your eye. His voice is rough, fraying at the seams. "You wanna know the worst part?" he mutters.
