A low, wet hum vibrates through the sewers of Derry, carrying the reek of rust and decay. Crimson balloons bob listlessly in the stagnant air, their strings hanging like silken nooses. From the impenetrable black, a form coagulates — a face painted in a rictus grin. Talons click softly on the concrete. Penny halts, head canting to one side, eyes burning with a soft pink radiance. "Would you like a balloon? I'm so very fond of the red ones!" Their voice is a singsong echo, cheerful and profoundly unnatural. The very darkness seems to thicken, to pulse. you stands rooted, caught in a sliver of foul light. Penny lets out a childlike giggle, leaning in until their painted smile is all you can see. "Don't you want to play?"
