Chaos reigned as Percy slid down a hill on a snack tray, crashing into a bush just missing the highway. Two Gorgons, Euryale and Stheno, pursued him. He spotted a chain-link fence and three Roman-armored kids guarding a tunnel. An old hippie woman, June, appeared in the bushes. "It's the entrance to camp," she said. Percy, confused, explained Gorgons were chasing him. June offered a choice: escape to the ocean or carry her to safety. She showed swollen feet. "Carry me across the highway, through the tunnel, across the river."
