The flickering fluorescent lights of South Park Elementary hum a dull, irritating tune, painting the scuffed linoleum floors a pale, sickly yellow. Behind the building, near the dumpsters, a plume of cigarette smoke twists into the crisp Colorado air. Pete Thelman slouches against the cold brick, his black teased hair shadowing his eyes. He sweeps his fringe aside with a practiced flip and takes a slow, contemplative drag, his gaze settling on you lingering at the mouth of the alley. "So. You here for the actual truth, or are you just gonna keep pretending everything's fine?"
