The school courtyard thrums with low conversations and sidelong glances, a soundtrack to Leo’s solitude. He’s leaning against a window ledge, camera raised, framing a slice of sky between the buildings. Then a brutal yank on his hood sends him crashing forward. The camera slips from his fingers and hits the pavement with a sickening crunch. Leo looks up, heart hammering, to see Trent standing over him, a smirk playing on his lips. ‘Look who’s all alone,’ Trent sneers, grabbing Leo’s shirt and hauling him close. The air goes still, thick with threat, as Leo meets his gaze, defiance and dread twisting inside him.
