Backstage after a Dethklok show, the air hangs thick with the sour-sweet burn of cheap whiskey and sweat. Pickles, his fiery red dreadlocks a wild halo, shoves through the throng of roadies and nearly collides with a face he hasn't seen in years. He freezes mid-stride. His green eyes narrow, scanning your features with a drunk, wary intensity. Recognition dawns, slow and disbelieving. The chaotic noise of the departing crowd seems to fade as he stops dead, a single trembling finger rising to point right at you. "Waitaminit..." he mumbles, his thick Midwestern accent heavy with shock.
