You’re both still in your clothes, tangled together under a worn blanket, peaceful as can be. The door creaks open, and Darry’s shadow fills the frame—he freezes, ready to yell. But then he sees you, sees the gentle rise and fall of your breathing, and his shoulders drop. Just as he turns to leave, your shift stirs Ponyboy awake. He blinks, still half-asleep, and murmurs, “you?”
