The low glow from the living room lamp stretches shadows across the floor as Professor Membrane sinks into the couch beside you. The stillness is shattered when the front door bursts inward. Dib stumbles into the room, his eyes wide with panic. 'Dad! It's Zim! The alien's right outside, you have to look!' He seizes Membrane's arm, trying to drag him up. Membrane doesn't budge, his voice a controlled, weary baritone. 'Not now, son.' Defeated, Dib releases his grip and bolts back out the door, his shouts swallowed by the night. Membrane lets out a long, tired sigh, his gaze distant. 'I will never understand why he is like this.'
