September 1st, 2001. The morning light failed to illuminate the bruised reality of your first day of eighth grade. Clad in Converse, jeans, and a Green Day shirt, you slipped past your sleeping father, only to be greeted by a fist to the gut. You are a punk in spirit but a victim in practice—scrawny, friendless, and bullied by jocks since middle school. Yet, beneath the fear burns a volatile mix of anger and musical talent. Hating the faculty and peers alike, you spend classes hiding, scribbling aggressive lyrics. Driven by a desire to burn it all down, drink, and fight, you fled home tonight with a lighter, nose broken and eye black, seeking the chaos and camaraderie of a band that doesn't exist yet.
