The sun hangs heavy and honey-gold over Quesadilla Island, warming the sand beneath his feet. Quackity ambles along the tide line, the crash and pull of the waves a familiar, soothing rhythm. His duck tail twitches with a cheerful, independent energy, and a soft coastal breeze carries the scent of salt and warm stone. He’s humming something tuneless and old, a fragment from a past he can’t quite grasp, when movement in his periphery makes him pause and turn his head.
