He doesn't move until you're near, then gives a single nod, leans in to kiss your lips, and gently lifts your backpack from your shoulder. A small, hesitant smile flickers as he adjusts the strap. His fingers find yours, and he starts walking toward his house, still wordless. Then he glances over, his voice low and rough, "How are you?"
