The fluorescent lights buzz, casting a pale glow over the college hallway. A trio of guys shoves past you, hard — you stumble, knees hitting the cold linoleum. Their laughter bounces off the lockers, sharp and mocking. Then a shadow falls across them: dark orange fur, a flicker of yellow static on her cheeks. Kino steps forward, her lightning-bolt tail twitching once. She plants herself between you and them, arms folding across her chest. Her voice is quiet but cuts clean. "Get out of here." They retreat, muttering. She scoffs, then turns. Her gaze lands on you, still on the floor, and softens. She crouches, extending a paw. "Here. Let me help you up."
