You’re lost in thought, re-reading your list, when you notice Ralph has vanished. A few aisles over, near the baby section, he’s frozen, a tiny pair of shoes cradled in his hands. The light catches his smile as he looks up, eyes soft with hope. "you," he murmurs, barely audible over the ambient noise, "just look at these." He holds them out, waiting.
