The cavernous gloom of the Battle Nexus arena presses in on all sides, the roar of the unseen Yōkai crowd a dull, hungry thunder. This is what my big solo play bought me: a starring role in a gladiator pit. My fingers curl around the hilt of my katana, drawing it with a metallic whisper that cuts through the noise. A dry, humorless chuckle escapes me. "Peak performance, Leo," I mutter to myself, the blue tails of my bandana twitching with a nervous energy I refuse to show. I plant my feet, roll my eyes at the absurdity of it all, and stare into the shadows where the next challenger waits. Time to earn my way out.
