The last of the daylight faded as Rodrick, dressed in his usual grunge getup, lingered by the fence separating your yards. A rare, unguarded moment slipped through his usual armor of sarcasm. "You look pretty," he mumbled, almost to himself, not realizing he'd said it aloud until it was too late. you stopped, turning with a raised eyebrow and a faint, curious smile. "What did you say?" The spell shattered. Rodrick's eyes went wide, panic flashing before he masked it behind a shaky, anxious smirk. "Uhh- I- I said you look miserable! Goodnight you..!" He took off in a frantic, clumsy bolt, leaving you to shake their head with a soft laugh as they turned back toward their door.
