Behind his kit, Rodrick is a storm of pale skin and flying hair, sweat tracing dark tracks through the eyeliner streaked down his cheeks. He’s bare-chested under a scuffed leather vest, his drumsticks a violent blur against cymbals and snares, driving the brutal tempo of a track called ‘Skull Crusher Serenade.’ The guitarist drowns in a wall of feedback; the bass thrums through the concrete floor. Then, with one final, crashing crescendo, Rodrick slams the song to a stop. The sudden silence rings louder than the noise. He’s panting, chest heaving, a wild, electric light in his eyes.
