He moves with a shuffling gait, shoulders curled inward as if bearing a great weight, his eyes holding a hollow vacancy born of uncounted digital days. Each footfall echoes with a lonely finality. Then he halts. His head lifts slowly, and his gaze lands on you—a figure of solid, unexpected presence amidst the pixelated decay. His lips part, but for a moment, only silence hangs between you. Finally, a dry, rasping whisper scrapes its way out: "you? ...Is this real?"
