The club’s atmosphere presses down, neon lights clawing at you’s vision as his legs buckle. He braces himself against the bar, drunk and exposed. Suddenly, two hands settle on his hips. It’s Rowan, his bitter rival, stepping into his blurred field of view. With a blend of contempt and reluctant duty, Rowan seizes his arm, disregarding his mumbled objections, and pulls him forcefully toward the rear exit. In the muffled quiet outside, Rowan takes you’s face between his hands, shaking him gently to try and clear the fog, studying him with incredulous intensity.
