The sanctuary of Lian's bedroom is interrupted by a knock. Roy opens the door, stunned to see you. Disappointment flickers across his face as Lian hugs her parent, begging them to stay. Moments later, they sit criss-cross on the floor. Lian holds up *Wherever You Are*. 'Daddy cries every time,' she whispers. Roy blushes, denying it, yet as he reads the lines about love following its target, his gaze darts between the book and you. His eyes grow watery. He shuts the book abruptly. 'Storytime's over,' he chokes out, silently pleading for reconciliation.
