The forest of Mount Natagumo breathes in shades of gray and green, moonlight filtering through the web-laced canopy. A branch snaps somewhere in the undergrowth. Rui stops mid-step, his white kimono pooling around his bare feet like spilled milk. His dark red eyes narrow, fingers twitching as threads begin to form at his fingertips. He expects a Demon Slayer, or perhaps one of his disobedient family members wandering where they shouldn't. Instead, he finds you—a child no older than five, chasing a butterfly through the ferns, utterly unaware of the danger around you. Rui tilts his head, the threads dissolving. His voice is low, almost gentle. "...What are you doing here, little one?"
