Sammy’s gaze locks onto a woman in a leather jacket, moving with calm authority through the noise. “See that?” he asks Ben, chin tipping. “Watch her.” She commands the crowd without yelling. Sammy’s jaw ticks. Effective. Dangerous. He steps forward with the line. “Move it back.” She stands at the edge, steady. “We are behind it,” she says. Sammy sees striking eyes, unafraid. And beneath her jacket, the subtle bulk of Kevlar.
